FluidFlow 3 's flowsheet presentation
of the pipe system in either isometric or orthogonal format makes
it easy for you to navigate around large models. The display
of input and calculated data concurrently with the flowsheet
provides you with an almost intuitive understanding of how the
system is performing.
FluidFlow 3 is the outcome of
9 man-years of research and programming and builds upon - and
significantly extends - the capabilities of its predecessor progams
Piping Systems FluidFlow and Netmate. Consequently,
FluidFlow3 has a development and application pedigree of more
than 20 years, providing you with excellent confidence in its
capabilites.
Design and layout of the piping network in FluidFlow3 is in a
familiar flowsheet format using click-and-drag to select piping
components from the equipment toolbar in order to add elements
(pipes, pumps, valves, fittings etc) to the model. Pipes are
rubber-banded between elements. Panning, zooming and cut-and-past
operations are all available to allow you to design your network
with minimum effort and maximum flexibility. Piping schematics
can be displayed in orthogonal or isometric format.

Almost any type of line equipment
can be modelled including multiple pumps (end-suction centrifugal
and positive displacement) and fans in parallel, series and booster
format; flow control, pressure control, non-return and relief
valves; boundary conditions such as reservoirs, tanks and nozzles;
etc.
Pipe, fluid and equipment data
are contained in user-definable datasets.
The calculation capabilities
of FluidFlow 3 include:
- Steady state compressible and
incompressible flow through complex pipe networks.
- Liquids, gases, non-Newtonian/non-settling
liquids, settllng slurries and 2-phase gas/liquid flow.
- Any number of fluids in the
same network - physical properties of combined fluids determined
at the location where streams converge.
- Total heat balance - heat loss/gain
through pipe walls (lagged or unlagged); heat added or removed
via heat exchangers or other line equipment. Heat change in compressible
flows.
- Choked conditions and sonic
velocity.
The fluids datasbase capabilites
of FluidFlow 3 include:
- Over 900 fluids with their full
physical and thermodynamic properties avaialble from a wide range
of estimation techniques.
- User-defined fluids can be added.
- Fluid mixtures can be user-created
utilsing the existing fluids and saved (the same mixing techniques
are used in the database as in a model where fluids combine).
The user interface of FluidFlow
3 includes:
- Free text on-screen.
- All input and
calculated data associated can be displayed in the results inspector
and/or on the flowsheet - completely selected by the user.
- Flyby facility
displays user-selected data as cursor is hovered over a flowsheet
component.
FluidFlow 3 reports include:
- In-built report
writer - fully user-definable.
- Output in PDF,
HTML or Word format.
- Export/Import
to Excel
