FLUIDS DATABASE

      

        

          
            
The "data engine"
            is the core of the calculation process for heat transfer, fluid
            mixing and 2-phase flow.


            
This screen image shows the fluids
            database. More than 900 fluids are in the database. The right
            hand column shows the wide range of estimating techniques used
            by the software to determine a fluid's thermo-physical properties.
            The right hand side fields link to an underlying window or windows
            where data is entered and charted.


            
Users may enter their own data.
            Complete data may not always be available - as shown in the Fluid
            Type selection ...'Pure Newtonian Fluid' in the image below.
            The following selections are available:


            
    
              
  • Simple Newtonian Liquid - allowing
              a limited amount of data to be added, just sufficient for single-phase,
              steady-state calculations to be performed.
              
  • Non-Newtonian liquid - data
              for Power Law, Bingham Plastic, Casson and Herschel-Bulkley fluids.
              
  • Gas data with no phase change.
            


            
Database management is by the
            buttons shown:



            Add Button: Allows new fluids to be added.

            New Mix Button: Intregral with the database is an estimation
            routine to determine the properties of fluid mixtures. Mixtures
            can user-defined and saved in the database. Alternatively, where
            fluids conbine within a network the software does this automatically.

            Preview Button: This allows individual fluid properties
            to be previewed.

            Print Button: This allows individual fluid properties
