GASWORKS
Natural Gas Reticulation; Gas Flow Modelling

The GasWorkS software is widely used in the natural gas reticulation industries for the design of industrial and domestic supply networks. GasWorkS provides an extensive set of network modelling tools designed to assist the engineer analyse and design distribution, transmission, gathering and plant piping systems conveying natural gas or other compressible fluids. GasWorkS offers no fewer than 19 different pipe flow equations.

Models gas flows in pipe networks.
Design neighbourhood or industrial natural gas reticulation systems.
User-choice of gas equations.
Simulatae regulators, compressors, valves, wells and other equipment.

GASWorkS is ideal for the design and analysis of township or industrial area reticulation systems but can be used for any pipe flow system for which the appropriate equation is available or known. The ability to superimpose a pipe network over a map of a township is a powerful feature of GASWorkS. The software operates in any system of units with a good choice of metric units.

Key features of GASWorkS include:

  • User choice of gas equations.
  • Graphical Data Interface.
  • Modelling of regulators, compressors, valves, wells and other equipment.
  • The ability to display BMP or DXF images (for example road maps) as a background to the model schematic.
  • Excellent reporting facilities.

GASWorkS allows a choice of pipe flow equations to be used including the user's own equation for gas flow. The following equations are available from within GASWorkS and are fully detailed in the manual to assist in quality assurance checking:

EQUATIONS OF FLOW

  • AGA 3 Orifice Metering Of Natural Gas And Other Hydrocarbon Fluids
  • AGA8 Compressibility Factors of Natural Gas and Other Hydrocarbon Gases
  • AGA GPTC Guide For Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems
  • AGA NX19 Manual For Determination of Supercompressibility Factors For Natural Gas
  • API 520 Sizing Selection and Installation of
